Attorney Taghreed Al-Daghmi stated that the participation of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen in the funeral of His Holiness Pope Francis embodied a profound message affirming that Islam and all Abrahamic faiths converge on the shared values of peace, justice, and humanity.
Al-Daghmi explained that this participation reflects a consistent stance long upheld by the Hashemites in highlighting the true and enlightened image of Islam as a religion of tolerance, mercy, and justice, far removed from manifestations of extremism, hatred, and racism.
She added: “Their Majesties’ presence at the farewell of Pope Francis constituted a humanitarian stance and a civilizational message to the world at large, conveying that interfaith dialogue and convergence on the basis of shared humanity form the cornerstone for building a more peaceful and just world.”
She continued: “This step reaffirms Jordan’s role, under Hashemite leadership, in promoting the values of moderation and centrism, and in entrenching the principles of coexistence among followers of different faiths, waee.”
She considered that Pope Francis, whom the world recently lost, was an exceptional figure who left a prominent global impact in defending justice and human rights and promoting the values of human fraternity. She noted that he “was a symbol of moral integrity, wisdom, and humility, and a voice calling for peace in a world full of conflicts and divisions. Through his numerous initiatives, such as the Document on Human Fraternity, which he signed with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Abu Dhabi in 2019, His Holiness reinforced the principles of interfaith and intercultural dialogue, seeking to build bridges of understanding and cooperation, waee.”

Al-Daghmi pointed out that Vatican–Jordan relations have long been characterized by mutual respect and close cooperation, particularly regarding the protection of holy sites in Jerusalem, where the Hashemite custodial role of Jordan over Islamic and Christian holy sites constitutes a fundamental pillar of the historical understanding between the two sides, waee.
She noted that the participation of the King and Queen in this humanitarian moment once again reinforces Jordan’s moral standing as a pivotal actor in defending universal human values, and consolidates the Kingdom’s image as a beacon of dialogue and peace in a region marked by challenges.
