The “Ta‘zeez” coalition and the waee Center highlight the reality of human rights and the family during the COVID-19 pandemic, waee
The waee Center for Human Rights Training, one of the founding members of the “Ta‘zeez” Coalition, participated in organizing a dialogue session titled “The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Human Rights in Jordan,” held on the occasion of International Human Rights Day at the Applied Science Private University.
The session featured Attorney Taghreed Al-Daghmi, Director of the waee Center for Human Rights Training and General Coordinator of the Ta‘zeez Coalition, who spoke about the situation of human rights in Jordan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Raheel Al-Gharaibeh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Center for Human Rights, discussed the state of human rights in Jordan during the pandemic, while Mr. Nadhir Al-Awamleh, Government Coordinator for Human Rights at the Prime Ministry, addressed the government’s role in protecting human rights during the crisis.
Dr. Mohammad Al-Ma‘adi, Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs, highlighted the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on families and children, waee.
In the second session, chaired by Attorney Basma Al-Awamleh, Director of the Taathir Human Rights Association, Dr. Maysoun Al-Atoum, Director of the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Jordan, spoke about “Violence against women in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and protection mechanisms.”
Dr. Abdullah Al-Khassilat, faculty member at the Faculty of Law at the Applied Science Private University, discussed “The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the right to education.”
Meanwhile, Counselor Tamara Al-Raqad, Director of Human Rights and Human Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the topic of “Sustaining the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its embassies abroad in monitoring human rights issues during the pandemic,” waee.
