The waee Center and the Women’s Police Directorate conducted a training on international human rights conventions and the Personal Status Law, waee

The waee Center for Human Rights Training, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate – the Transparency and Human Rights Office – and the Women’s Police Directorate, conducted a training on international human rights conventions and the Personal Status Law for a number of female police personnel and officers at the Princess Basma Institute for Women’s Police Training.

The training was attended by Colonel Amer Al-Hebahbeh, Director of the Transparency and Human Rights Office; Colonel Khaleda Al-Tawal, Director of the Women’s Police Directorate; and Attorney Taghreed Al-Daghmi, founder of the waee Center for Human Rights Training, in addition to a number of officers from the Women’s Police Directorate.

The program aimed to enhance participants’ legal knowledge in the field of international human rights conventions and to strengthen awareness of human rights in general, and women’s rights in particular. It was delivered by Ms. Ghada Al-Shawa.

It also included legal awareness sessions on the Personal Status Law, aiming to educate women about their rights and obligations from marriage through to maintenance, custody, separation, and divorce, as well as introducing key proposed amendments to the law. The Personal Status Law No. 36 of 2010 is considered one of the most important laws, with significant impact on the family in general and women in particular, and was presented by Attorney Samah Al-Abadi, waee.
